Flat or eggshell emulsion suits period living rooms well. Flat emulsion diffuses light and masks the minor surface variations common on original lime plaster. Eggshell adds subtle depth and is slightly more washable. High-sheen finishes amplify every bump and crack on uneven plaster, so we avoid them on period walls.

How do you handle living rooms with very high ceilings?

We use tower scaffolding or safe work platforms for ceilings above three metres. This is included in the quote. Ladder-only working on high ceilings produces inconsistent pressure on the roller and carries a real safety risk. We do not cut corners on access.

Can you paint the living room while we’re living in it?

We work around occupied homes. We move furniture to the centre of the room and cover everything with dust sheets. Larger pieces can stay if there is space to work. We ask you to remove ornaments and breakables before we start. Low-VOC paints keep odour minimal.
