What paint finish should I use on interior walls?

It depends on the room. Flat emulsion suits period rooms with original plaster. It diffuses light and masks surface variation. Eggshell or silk is better for kitchens, bathrooms, and hallways where washability matters. We advise room by room at the site visit.

How do you paint a newly plastered wall?

New plaster needs a diluted sealing coat first. We apply a mist coat, a slightly thinned emulsion, which allows moisture to escape without the film lifting. Once dry, we apply one or two full-strength finish coats. Painting over new plaster without this step is the most common cause of bubbling and lifting.

Can you paint over existing wallpaper on interior walls?

In most cases, we recommend removing wallpaper before painting. Painting over paper can cause lifting and bubbling, particularly on lime plaster walls. We assess at the site visit.

What exterior wall paint works best in Greater Manchester?
